Father Of The Year

It was my first day of first grade. My dad flew in from the US to Israel to be present for this very important milestone in my short life.

I was standing in line with the other kids and saw my parents stand across from me watching me with pride.

Then I heard it. Two boys standing in line next to me started chanting to me "Fat girl! You fat girl! You must weigh 300lbsyou fat girl!"

I was a little overweight, but until that moment it never bothered me. Then came the tears of humiliation as all the other kids turned and looked at me, watching me being mocked by these two boys who were laughing and chanting to me their hurtful words over and over: "Fat girl! You fat girl! You must weigh 300lbs you fat girl!"

I was so embarrassed; I didn't know what to do.

Then, in a split second, my father was next to me in line. He picked up both of these boys by their ear and said to them: "If you ever mock my daughter again you will have to answer to me.

And that was the end of it.

These two boys were in my class through high school - but they NEVER spoke to me again. As a matter of fact, one of them used to cross to the other side of the hallway when I walked by.

I will never forget this moment when my father was my hero. Just like anyone else, dads are not perfect - but when they put this "Super Dad" cape on - there is nothing like it in the world for their child.

Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome, amazing dads out there. Thank you for all you do for your family!
